Please tell me someone noticed this little thing that's been annoying me and my fan-freak mind. In their first song on the SNL performance (which was replayed tonight), "Float On," Isaac changed the words from "We both got fired on exactly the same day, well we'll float on good news is on the way" to "We both got fired on exactly the same day, well we were gonna quit anyway." Why? The only thing I can think of is that the whole Good News thing is taken from a Christian book, "Good News For Modern Man' that my grandparents had. Perhaps that phrase "good news" was somehow offensive?? I realize this is a weak idea. And that I'm a detail-obsessed Virgo.

Re: SNL performance
Sun, January 2, 2005 - 2:25 PMI think he's just performing... and he felt like changing the words - both are good and it livens it up a bit when you sing the song the same over and over again.. either way the're gonna float on... He usually switches up the vocals a bit and adds on when playing live so my guess it's as simple as that? -

Sun, January 2, 2005 - 6:01 PMYou're probably right. I think I'm a conspiracy theorist. -

Mon, January 3, 2005 - 10:13 PMYeah, he changes it up in his lyrics and his pitch. There were other lyrics that he changed when they played "Ocean Breathes Salty", too.
